If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll refund your fee or commission and work with you to make things right.² You won’t find that kind of promise everywhere—but you will find it here.

  • What fees are covered by the guarantee?

    If for any reason, you are not satisfied, we’ll refund the previous quarter’s program fee for Schwab Private Client™.

  • Are any fees not covered by the guarantee?

    While the guarantee covers a wide range of fees and commissions, there are services to which it does not apply. These include accounts managed by investment advisors who are not affiliated with Schwab, such as those managed through Schwab Advisor Network®. The guarantee also does not apply to interest paid on margin loans.

  • Who should I contact if I have questions or would like to request a refund?

    You can call a Schwab investment professional at 0800 917-1039. Or, if you work with a Schwab Financial Consultant, you can contact your consultant.

  • How long do I have to request a refund under the guarantee?

    For account fees and commissions, your request must be received within one year of the date that the fee was charged.

    For Program Fees on advisory services, your request must be received no later than the next calendar quarter after the fee was charged.

  • How long will it take to receive my refund?

    Funds will be credited to the account charged in approximately four weeks of a valid request.

1. Restrictions apply: The $4.95 commission does not apply to foreign stock transactions, large block transactions requiring special handling, or restricted stock transactions. Foreign ordinary shares that trade online in the U.S. over-the-counter (OTC) market and do not settle in the U.S. will have a $50 foreign transaction fee added to the cost of the transaction. Employee equity compensation transactions are subject to separate commission schedules. Multiple-leg options strategies will involve multiple commissions.

2. If you are not completely satisfied for any reason, at your request Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (“Schwab”) or Charles Schwab Bank (“Schwab Bank”), as applicable, will refund any eligible fee related to your concern within the time frames described below. Two kinds of “Fees” are eligible for this guarantee: (1) asset-based “Program Fees” for the Schwab Private Client (“SPC”), Schwab Managed Portfolios (“SMP”), Schwab Intelligent Advisory (“SIA”), and Managed Account Connection (“Connection”) investment advisory services sponsored by Schwab (together, the “Participating Services”); and (2) commissions and fees listed in the Charles Schwab Pricing Guide for Individual Investors (and the Schwab Bank Deposit Account Pricing Guide (together, “Account Fees”). Program Fee refund requests must be received no later than the next calendar quarter after the Fee was charged. Account Fee refund requests must be received within one year of the date that the Fee was charged.
